DISCOVER AWARD
£85
The Paddlesport Discover Award is aimed at individuals who have tried paddling before, be that during a taster session or a Start award or even as an activity on holiday. It focuses on developing the fundamental skills that every paddler needs to achieve their ultimate goal be that paddling down white water or relaxing on a serene lake. By the end of this course you will have gained the skills to go out and confidently paddle safely in a group in a suitable environment to your skills..
We will be working on skills such as:
Forwards Paddling
Paddling Backwards
Turning more efficiently
Moving sideways
What to do in the event of a capsize
We run this as a 6 hour course at a cost of £80
( we need at least 2 candidate to run the course)
British Canoeing certification is £8 for this course and is emailed directly to you
(If you are a British Canoeing member then the price is £6.)
This cost is optional and will be charged after the course upon request.

EXPLORE AWARD
£100
The Paddlesport Explore Award is aimed at individuals interested in solidifying their fundamental skills giving them an idea of where they could progress. You will gain a broader experience and learn to move your chosen craft effectively. You will gain an understanding of the important interactions between your Body, boat and Blade when on the water. By the end of this course you will have gained the skills to independently paddle your chosen craft environment with the confidence to progress and choose suitable waters to paddle on.
Skills to be covered include:
Effective Forwards Paddling
Effective Backwards Paddling
Moving the craft sideways
Turning on the move to an accurate target
Rescue (self & peers)
Environmental hazards around you.

This course is usually ran over 1 full day buy can be split if needed

WHITEWATER AWARD
£100 1day training and assessment
£180 2day training and assessment
Put your kayak, where you want it!
​
White water kayaking is, about our ability to put the boat where we want it we want it, whatever the conditions.
On our courses we will show you techniques that are the fundamentals that apply on easy white water all the way to advanced
You will leave our course with a great technical understanding of how things we do work an why...but also if they don't work in the future how to fix them. allowing you to hit your next grade with confidence

During the course we will cover:

Effective forwards paddling and driving the boat
Using the river to aid manoeuvring
How to use pressure on the paddle blade
Making decisions in a dynamic environment
Use of eddie lines and other river feature
Quick practical rescue techniques
​
We are all between swims ,so rolling is definitely a useful tool.
The course covers coaching in the skills needed for white water paddling on grade two rivers, with the opportunity to achieve the White Water Performance Award.
All of our candidates leave the course with a clear, precise and personalised action plan; safe in the knowledge that they have a range of techniques that are effective and safe.

CANOE AWARD

From lakes to moving water a canoe will let you travel in style!
​
The canoe is one of the most diverse crafts in paddlesports allowing quick blast on moving water to long expeditions where you can even sail as a group.
​
As with all paddlesport we concentrate on 3 aspects to create easy when paddling, Boat, Body and Blade when all these factors work in harmony, life is good!
​
once we are able to use these correctly we can then apply tactical approached to help enable us to reach or attain our specific target on the day.
During the canoe award we will look at paddling in open water in up to force 3 winds and on simple moving water.
​
when done correctly a skilled canoe paddler can make manoeuvring this fairly large craft look slick and effortless
​
In the beginning canoes can seem difficult to control but we will help you to understand and learn the craft!
We will teach you more than just strokes. We will show you good techniques so you can blend them together ensuring at the end of the course you know how and why it works enabling you to go away and use them on your own adventures!

Course Content
We will cover all aspects of the syllabus helping you to acquire the basic skills for open canoeing.
Like all our coaching we aim to give you straightforward options that will work in all environments.
We will look at the following during the course:
A range of forwards paddling techniques.
Backwards for slowing down or reversing.
Steering.
Moving around i tight spots.
Moving sideways.
Using the wind to aid you on open water journeys.
Using river features to enable you to move around the river effortlessly.

SHELTERED WATER SUP AWARD
£100pp 1 day training and assessment
£180pp 2 day training and assessment
This award is designed to develop your skills and understanding of how to plan a day of Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) in sheltered water, whilst giving you abilities and decision making skills to travel safely on your pre-determined route.
​
The Sheltered Water SUP Award will give you the ability to organise and carry out an enjoyable and safe trip on the water up to 200 metres from shore, up to force 3 in winds. You will be confident in considering how far you can safely travel from the shore, whilst identifying safe exit points, expanding your knowledge of rescue techniques and looking at other environmental factors which may affect your journey. We will look and develop proficient skills to anticipate and adapt to problems we may encounter to enable us to have a safe and enjoyable day out paddleboarding.

Every time we experience paddle boarding we further our understanding, skills and knowledge of the sport. In SUP steady, gradual development is encouraged creating a more enjoyable experience on the water. With no two experiences ever the same, we never stop learning.
